Learned to smile!
Heiko smiles now, gives happy squeals, and makes a special little sound that is
almost a laugh. He smiles at Jonas and me. He smiled at Toros when he came to visit. He smiles during bathtime. He smiles at the ceiling fans. He smiles during trampoline time on the bed (laying down on the bed while Jonas or I bounce the bed). He is a happy boy.
Loves Music
Heiko loves listening to music, all kinds. From Classical to Hip Hop, Rock to Reggae... we listen to it all! Heiko's favorite song is
Someone Like You by Adele. He gets very quiet and still when I put that song on, even if he is cranky... which makes it my favorite song too.
Getting Stronger
Heiko is getting stronger and stronger every day. I was slacking for awhile on tummy time because he didn't like it very much... he would only tolerate it for very short periods of time on the Boppy pillow, and he wouldn't tolerate it at all if he was completely flat. I have recently made a concerted effort to force him to do it though (sorry Heiko, this probably won't be the last time I will force you to do something you don't want to do). Only for a minute or two at a time, but we do it 4 or 5 times a day, and he is actually starting to complain much less! His head/neck control is actually really great (despite hating the tummy-down position). Most of the time he doesn't need any support to hold and move his head around. He also has strong legs. When you hold him up under the arms, he will bear all of his weight on his legs and stand straight up! He likes being in this position and will just look around quietly and remain standing for up to a few minutes. No rolling over yet, but he does partially roll onto his side from his back sometimes on the changing table.
Getting Bigger
Our tiny little baby is not so tiny anymore. He is wearing size 2 diapers, and is in 3 month (almost 3-6) size clothing. Things that he used to swim in are now too snug and have to go in the "outgrown" bag. This gives me an excuse to go shopping and buy more cute stuff for him, something I will never complain about. He is in the 85th percentile for weight, at 13lbs 2.5oz! Big boy. My arms look fantastic. He is also in the 85th percentile for head circumference, and the 50th for height (23inches).
Sleeping
Heiko usually sleeps for 4-5 hours in his first nighttime stretch, then 2-3 hours during his stretches after that until morning. It's lovely!
Here are some recent pictures of our big 2 month old boy! =)
In these pictures you can see his umbilical hernia, which just means his abdominal cavity hasn't totally closed yet. It will eventually and then he will probably have an outie belly button. I think it's super cute. =)
We love our hats! A boy's got to accessorize!
