Theo is 2 months old!
Happy 2 Month Birthday to our (big) little Theo! What a joy this child is. He is so easy going and so happy, we are so lucky to have such a great baby.
He has been sleeping 4-6.5 hours at bedtime, then 2ish hours after that. He really only cries when he is hungry or sleepy! He is enjoying independent play time more, but not loving tummy time quite yet, in spite of his pretty strong neck control. He weighs 15 pounds according to the bathroom scale... we won't know his official measurements until Monday when he has his 2 month appointment and vaccinations. BUT the bathroom scale has been pretty accurate, and he is in 6 month, moving into 9 month clothes.... so I think 15 is a pretty safe estimate. Heiko was 15 pounds at 3 months and was in the 85th percentile, soooo Theo might be off the charts hitting that number at 2 months.

We are loving this holiday season! We had a great Thanksgiving, and now we are full of Christmas cheer. :) The music, the lights, and now - the snow! It's so fun now that Heiko is old enough to understand and enjoy it all.
We have a new visitor who has been spending lots of time at our house, when he isn't at the North Pole... it's our elf, Fritz! Fritz comes to our house every day to watch and make sure the boys are being good, and then he flies back to the North Pole every night to report to Santa. When he flies back to our house after talking to Santa, he always hides in a different spot! Fritz is so silly! Heiko is hopeful that his good behavior will convince Santa that he should get a Dinosaur Train for Christmas.

Potty success!
Warning: Boring mommy post about potty training ahead.
I guess I can admit that potty training isn't as scary as I thought it would be! Maybe I won't wait so long to do it for Theo. ;)
We've been acclimating Heiko to the toilet for a long time now, but this week we actually started really going for it full force. (Potty training and big boy bed in the same week...??!!! Are we super parents or what?!!!!) After school for the past few days I put him in underwear and took him to the toilet every 20 minutes or so. I'm normally not a fan of extrinsic rewards, but for a boy being pulled away from an intense study of his trains to go sit on a boring toilet every 15/20 minutes, M&Ms are an integral part of his willingness. He didn't produce much during those 3 hour stretches, and had a couple of accidents, so I was a little worried he may not be ready.
Today though, he was diaper-free all day, and didn't wet his underwear or pull-up ALL DAY! Every pee was taken in the toilet! His daily bm was a different story... But we will keep fighting that battle. ;) We even went out twice, to the park and to the grocery store, and he stayed dry! We put him in pull-ups for naps and leaving the house, but we call them "robot underwear" bc they have robots on them, and treat them the same as underwear... No peeing in underwear! When I first put a pair on him, he said "this is a diaper"... Haha, I had to think quick and make sure he knew it was totally NOT a diaper, wink wink.
While I'm sure this potty business still will have some bumps in the road, I'm hopeful that it is actually going to work! Hooray potty! Goodbye diapers! Oh wait, we've just started over with the newbie. !!!!!!! :)

Big Boy Bed!
Heiko is an amazing sleeper, we knew he would have no trouble transitioning to a big boy bed, we just wanted to hold off until things were more consistent around here with the baby.
Well, we were right! We finally took the side of Heiko's crib off last weekend, and he has still been our super sleeper! He did fall out a couple of nights ago, but it didn't phase him too much, was back to sleep in about 2 minutes. He hadn't gotten out yet on his own, I don't think he knows that's a possibility. ;) But more so, the kid just really loves to sleep!
Theo sleeps and smiles!
Theo started smiling a couple of days ago! Such a precious sight. :)
He has been sick with a cold for the last week, and has had trouble sleeping because of his congestion/coughing waking him up at night. BUT it is now 3:45am and he is just on his first night feeding! That's after 5 hours of sleep! Woohoo! I feel like a new woman! My breasts are not as thrilled with this new development... No pun intended! ;)
I took him in to the doctor today to make sure all is well on the inside (that cough was a little gnarly at times), and doc said he should get over it in a few more days. He was weighed in of course, and our little gruntchkin is 13lbs 1oz. That's what Heiko weighed at 2 months, and Theo still has 3 more weeks until he reaches that point!

Theo is 1 month old!
Our sweet baby Theo is one month old today! He is between 11 and 12 pounds (woah!), growing like crazy. He is growing out of clothes left and right, and everyone who sees him is quite surprised at his size. He is definitely bigger than Heiko was at 1 month. Can you imagine when these two are teenagers?!
Because he eats so much, I'm not getting much sleep... 2-2.5 hours at a time during the night, and he nurses every hour and a half during the day, sometimes every hour. So it's no wonder he is a baby giant.
He is so sweet, and only cries when he wants to eat. Or if he has bad gas. Theo is Grunter 2.0... even worse than Heiko was! Hopefully he gets his digestive system figured out soon, bc the grunting is INSANE... especially at 4am. Oy.
Theo is really strong, he can bear all his weight on his legs for a few seconds, and he has pretty good neck control already. He holds a perfectly steady gaze at things he wants to look at, especially his daddy. This boy loves staring at Jonas. When J holds him, he will only turn and look at Jonas. He does not do that with me at all, only his daddy. It's super cute.

Halloween 2013
Or as Heiko calls it, Trick or Treat Day.
Heiko's fun Halloween started off with a celebration and costume parade at school, then concluded with dinner an trick or treating with some of the neighborhood kids. He pretty much only ate candy and sweets the whole day, wanted nothing to do with real food. But to be honest, his mother did pretty much the same. Our little zebra Theo tagged along for a bit, but he and I made an early departure from trick or treating. Heiko loved it, and even yesterday decided to play trick or treat at home, with cars substituting for candy since the candy is well hidden. ;)

Pumpkin Time
We had our first family outing when Theo was only a week old; we went to a local farm for some pumpkin fun. We got pumpkins, saw some animals, played on some hay bales, jumped in a bouncy pumpkin, and ate some delicious funnel cake! It was super fun. I love fall. =)
